 General Information

Emanuel Reichert-Lübbert (born 1998) is a composer and violinist. His work is deeply rooted in the tradition of European art music, blending it with the awareness and expressive power of contemporary musical currents. His compositions are often characterized by polyrhythmic structures, stemming from his engagement with progressive metal and Carnatic music.

As a violinist, he focuses on crystal-clear interpretation and a conscious exploration of the structural depth of music, to make its inner logic and emotional scope tangible.

"The tension between theory and practice is the fascinating space where thoughts, feelings, and concepts become tangible reality. Here, forms come alive, and it reveals how even the slightest changes in practical and theoretical parameters have a profound impact on the listening experience."

Currently, Reichert-Lübbert is pursuing a Master of Music (MMus) in violin at the Hochschule für Musik Mainz and advanced composition studies at the Akademie für Tonkunst Darmstadt. His compositions have received numerous awards, including the Composition Prize of the Wiesbadener Staatstheater and the Composition Advancement Award of the 'Prinzessin Margaret von Hessen' Competition.

Emanuel Reichert-Lübbert is a student at the Hochschule für Musik Mainz, where he is pursuing a Master's degree in Violin under Prof. Benjamin Bergmann and Prof. Anne Shih. He also completed his Bachelor of Music there in 2023. Simultaneously, he is dedicating himself to composition in an advanced artistic studies program at the Akademie für Tonkunst under Prof. Il-Ryun Chung.

It is his conviction and passion to view music as a comprehensive, direct medium for artistic expression from person to person, intended to touch, inspire, and ignite. Music should not be defined by societal expectations or listening habits, but by the unconditional inner expressive will of each individual composer.

As a violinist, he has completed numerous solo and chamber music performances, including at the Casalmaggiore International Music Festival, the Musiktage am Rhein Festival, and in 2024 at the internationally renowned Interplay: Opera and Chamber Music Program in Banff, Canada.

As a composer, he has also distinguished himself through commissioned works for the Harzburger Musiktage and collaborations with renowned artists such as Mihály Berecz, Erima Yashima, and the NDR Radiophilharmonie.

Further collaborations as a composer have included projects with the Asian Art Ensemble, Ensemble Phorminx, Olga Bechtold, Anna-Sophie Brüning, Patrick Lange, Gordon Gerrard, the Orchestra of the Hochschule für Musik Mainz, and the Mainzer Virtuosi.

In the field of composition, Reichert-Lübbert has received several awards: in 2017, the Andreas Werckmeister Prize from the city of Halberstadt; in 2019, the Composition Prize on the theme "Art Nouveau" from the Hessian State Theatre; and in 2023, the Composition Advancement Award from the "Princess Margaret of Hesse" Competition.

In addition to his work in contemporary classical music, Reichert-Lübbert is also the composer, producer, and guitarist for the progressive metal band Time for Aardvarks, which has already established itself in the local scene and online with numerous performances and is expected to release its debut album in April 2025.
